Evelyn and I met by coincidence. I still remember our first conversation at Fish Bar of the JW Marriott Hotel, during the celebratory cocktail after witnessing our friends’ admission at the High Court. We started talking and she shared with me a dilemma that many brides-to-be experience: wanting to do everything herself and yet the stress has started to build up as the big day gets closer.
We met again after a month, this time with her fiancé Johnny. Being uber organized (I was no longer surprised after knowing that they are both Doctors!), the couple had already arranged most of the vendors, yet needed some help to piece things together, to delineate the flow of the day, and most importantly to take the burden off their shoulders by managing the on-the-day execution.
Things I remember from the wedding day? The beautiful breezy and sunny weather, the unique invitations designed by the talented sister of the bride, the supportive and loving bridal party, the hilarious video of “how he stole her heart”, the funny faces the guests pulled in front of the photo booth, and the happy tears in Evelyn, Johnny and their parents’ eyes.
Since then we have become good friends where we hang out for afternoon tea, explore adventures like wakeboarding together, and at times have our ears open for each others’ ups and downs.
